Woodside is a 4 bedroom stone built cottage in the hamlet of Stanton Lees with imposing views. The landscaped garden is a haven to many countryside birds that frequent the attractive and varied garden both in winter and summer as can be seen through these visitors photographs.

Nestling into the lip of Stanton Moor, a Bronze age settlement containing the famous Nine LadiesStone Circle, cairns, standing stones and 70 tumuli, Woodside offers an ideal base for walking, bird watching and sightseeing.Bakewell, Matlock and Chatsworth house are within 4½ miles of Stanton Lees whilst Haddon Hall is even closer. Much of the 555sq. miles of the Peak District can be accessed within 45 minutes including the Staffordshire Moorlands home to the pretty village of Longnor and interesting rock formation of The Roaches, the High Peak areas like Edale, Mam Tor and Castleton and the beautiful Govt Valley above Buxton.
Woodside overlooks the Derwent Valley and visitors can relax in the spacious lounge whilst watching the Peak Rail steam train ply its trade up and down the valley.
The proprietor has researched and written personalised routes for her visitors which can include walks for the more energetic.These interesting and helpful routes have proved extremely popular and informative as the writer is continually exploring the area in which she has lived all her life, having walked it extensively and previously taught history, geography and R.E. There is no need to purchase expensive maps and walks of the area for all are available and can be borrowed from Woodside at no extra cost.

A log burning stove heats the spacious lounge in which visitors can relax after a fulfilling day. Whilst there is a tastefully decorated dining room most visitors prefer to dine taking in the glorious views from the lounge whilst watching the birds feed. The choice is yours.
2 well appointed and tastefully decorated double en suite bedrooms contain many examples of the hosts interest in fine embroidery and needlework, also a twin room with its own private facilities. All rooms contain TV, radio, hairdryer and a hospitality tray.
The historic 1834 Earl Grey Tower, a well known folly and built in commemoration of the Reform Law of that year, can be seen from this room. The other two rooms have magnificent views overlooking the Derwent Valley and hills beyond. Woodside has full central heating and spring water on tap. |

Within the immediate area there is much evidence of a diverse fauna and flora including a rare herd of Black Norwegian Fallow Deer as well as a the usual woodland creatures. Garden birds to be seen at Woodside include Greater and Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers, Nuthatches,Goldcrests, as well as the usual birds, and various migratory birds in their season. Visitors enjoy feeding our birds and listing the varieties and become so engrossed that they are reluctant to go about their intended business.

From Matlock Take the A6 towards Bakewell for 2 miles. First left at the Red House Hotel to the cross roads, left on to B5057 into Darley Bridge. Opposite the Three Stags Heads pub turn right to Stanton Lees. In the village take the right fork for 200 yards. Woodside is the 5th house on the right.
From Bakewell Take A6 to Rowsley, turn right opposite the Peacock hotel, over the bridge immediately turn right and up to the crossroads. Left to Stanton Lees. Woodside is the 1st house on the left, on the ROADSIDE, after the '30 mph signs' and 'Stanton Lees' signs.
From Ashbourne Take the B5056 and turn right at the sign for Birchover. Drive to the top of the village and turn right at the fork signposted to Stanton Lees. Left opposite the Chapel to the junction. Woodside is the 2nd house on the right.
