The White Lion is open to non-residents, so you are welcome to use the hotel as a base to meet business partners or just sit with friends and enjoy the atmosphere of this 16th Century coaching inn.


Our well stocked bar is the perfect place to taste one of our range of quality real ales from both local and national breweries. Enjoy a cup of coffee or afternoon tea; perhaps have something more substantial such as a light lunch, or sample the Á la Carte menu for a special occasion. We cook food only to order - nothing is prepared or ready frozen.

Like many of our previous guests, we feel that once you have experienced our hospitality you will want to return time and time again.

A warm welcome is waiting for you from Chris and the team at reception and throughout the hotel, where all of our rooms have been refurbished in individual styles in keeping with the age of the hotel. Jon and his chefs will look after your culinary needs; drawing from a wealth of experience, imaginative dishes are created using only the finest and freshest of ingredients.

Our extensive wine list will provide a complement to your meal; after dinner, why not take a liqueur or brandy with your coffee and relax in the comfortable lounge.

From your first enquiry through to checking out after your stay, we hope to make you feel both relaxed and comfortable. Our aim is to make you go away with the desire to visit us again.

Small meetings, both formal and informal, can be arranged. The full Á la Carte and snack bar menus are available; or if you prefer a buffet we are only too happy to cater for your needs.


With the famous 'Pepperpot' monument dominating the skyline, Upton is a lively place with plenty to see and do, unspoiled by large supermarkets or chain stores. It boasts eight pubs and an extensive range of specialist and diverse shops.

The picturesque riverside town hosts a range of annual festivals and events, from the International Jazz and Folk festivals to the end of Summer Regatta and Water Festival. A short drive will take you to Welland Steam Rally and the Three Counties Showground, itself boasting a long list of events such as the Spring and Autumn Garden Shows, Vintage Car Rally, Antiques Fairs and The Three Counties Show itself.

Close proximity to the M5 and M50 makes Upton an ideal base for longer trips to Worcester with its magnificent Cathedral and Porcelain Works, Regency Cheltenham, the Malvern Hills, historic Tewkesbury, Ledbury or Shakespeare's Stratford.
