| Ideally situated, 2½ hours down the M4 from London and straight into the 15th century. |
 | Originating from around 1550, The Great House is a grade II* listed building and is believed to have been a gift from Queen Elizabeth 1 to the Earl of Leicester and used as a hunting lodge by him. |
The house has a direct family link with the Maid of Cefn Ydfa of nearby Lllangynwyd parish.
Restored form a derelict shell in 1986 by the owners Norma and Stephen Bond, there are many interesting architectural features. |
| The stone arch above the fireplace in the cocktail bar is the single largest unbroken span of stone in Wales, and the beams and the stairs are all original to their period. | |
| The Dovecote in the south wall was an important source of food in olden times. Stone archways and mullioned windows have all been faithfully restored and inglenook fireplaces appear in most public rooms. |
Each season has a unique place here. Spring breathes new life into the walled garden.
Summer days invite you to take drinks on the patio before dinner and as Autumn turns to Winter, you are enticed to share cocktails in front of open fires. |
| Every detail is personally supervised by the owners. There is a well-stocked library 'for those quiet moments' and croquet lessons are optional! |
Mae na groeso cynnes i chi yma pob amser
There will always be a warm welcome for you here |
| The combination of exceptional comfort and fine cuisine makes The Great House very special. |
 | The restaurant has twice been awarded 'Country Restaurant of the Year' and this confirms the high standards of cooking and service.
The freshest local Welsh produce is used and the food reflects a modern approach to classical cooking. |
