|Welcome to Allonby, a small attractive village delightfully situated on the unspoiled Solway coast between Maryport and Silloth.|
With beautiful backdrop of the Lake District fells, the views across the sea to Scotland are spectacular to behold.
The Solway Coast is one of the most beautiful and relatively undiscovered coastlines in Britain, and the area around Allonby has been designated an 'Area of Outstanding Beauty', and is a haven for a variety of wildlife.
|The Ship Hotel is a grade II listed building which was once a 17th century coaching inn on the Workington to Carlisle road. |
It is now a comfortable, owner managed hotel in a peaceful seaside village, offering a warm welcome to visitors to the Solway Coast and the nearby Lake District.
Spectacular Solway sunsets which have to be seen to be believed can be viewed from most of the hotel bedrooms, most of which are en suite and are traditionally furnished with real wood furniture. The bars have real fires and exposed beams as seen by Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins when they stayed here in 1857.
Our small but select dining room with its wood panelling bar meals are available at lunchtimes and evenings. Sunday lunches are our speciality.
Yates real ales and guest beers make the bars a joy for the discerning drinker.

There are golf courses at both Silloth and Maryport which are approximately 5 miles distant in either direction.
The Cumbrian Coastal Way passes the hotel door and this unspoilt area is ideal for both walkers and cyclists. Secure storage for cycles and motorcycles is available.
Allonby offers windsurfing and fishing. A new marina at Maryport has facilities for the sailing enthusiast and miles of beaches are a great attraction for the children.
