Marconi Holiday Village trades under the name of Lavernock Point Holiday Estate. It is the closest campsite and self catering accommodation site to Cardiff. It is ideally situated 2 miles from Penarth on elevated ground overlooking the Bristol Channel with lovely views extending from the Severn Bridge to the Somerset Coast with the beautiful skyline of Exmoor beyond.

On the village we have beautiful self catering chalets - most with spectacular views over the Bristol channel plus a campsite for tents and trailers if you prefer camping. We also have an outdoor swimming pool, club house and restaurant and shop which are open in the high season.

We also cater for caravan rallies although touring caravans are not permitted outside the month of August

The Estate is privately owned and we offer holidaymakers a haven of peace and quiet whilst at the same time being within easy travelling distance of the cultural and busy city of Cardiff. Local attractions within a 10 mile radius include Cardiff Bay, the Millennium Stadium, the internationally acclaimed Welsh Folk Museum, Cardiff Castle, National Museum, numerous cinemas, theatres, golf courses, nightclubs, various hotels, restaurants and large shopping malls.

You will find the management and staff friendly and helpful but never interfering with your privacy and enjoyment.

Accommodation

Most of our letting bungalows have spectacular views overlooking the Bristol Channel.We offer three types of bungalow accommodation varying slightly in their level of equipment such as microwave, bath or shower.

Although we always try to put you in a chalet with all extras it is recommended that you phone first to confirm availability if these are required.

In all chalets electricity is supplied by way of card-operated meter.

3 Star Bungalows

The interior layout includes a large open plan living room and kitchen area, bathroom and toilet. All have 2 bedrooms (1 double bed and 2 single beds) and offer comfortable sleeping for 3 or 4 persons whilst a folding Z bed can be supplied to accommodate a further person.

Each 3 Star Bungalow is completely detached and fully furnished. They are equipped with a colour television, electric cooker, fridge, cooking utensils and bedding, including linen as standard.

Please note, towels & T towels must be provided by hirer

Please note that due to events in the area we sometimes let our chalets for weekends only. As this would interrupt any prospective booking the week before the Saturday as well as the week after the saturday our rates for this are as follows

3 Bedroom Luxury Bungalow

This large luxury bungalow is detached, set in its own grounds on elevated land and has views across the Bristol Channel. It offers all the amenities of the 3 Star Bungalow but in addition has a separate dining area and 3 bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed and the other two each have 2 single beds providing comfortable sleeping for up to 6 persons.

Like the 3 Star Bungalow, it is fully furnished, but equipped with a microwave, shower and bedding, including linen as standard.

Unfortunately, we only have two of these properties for rental at present so it is essential to phone first to confirm availability to avoid disappointment.

Long Term Accommodation

5Weeks and over only £ 130.00 per week (during low season)

For persons between houses or maybe working in the area, this is the perfect flexable solution to your housing problems.

A Bond of £ 200.00 plus details of a valid Master, Visa or Switch Card is required to secure this type of booking. The rent is then automatically swiped every week until the key is returned.

The internal layout consists of two bedrooms (1 double bed and 2 single beds), kitchen, bathroom and toilet and offer comfortable sleeping for up to 4 persons. Although bedding & linen are supplied, towels and T towels must be supplied by the hirer.

Marconi Holiday Village, Penarth, Swimming Pool

Our lovely 120ft outdoor heated swimming pool is ideal for all ages, with depths ranging from 2ft to 6ft, and is well sheltered from prevailing winds.

Smaller children can take advantage of our circular pool, which is 8ft 6ins in diameter and just 1ft deep. There is an ample sunbathing area by the pools so you can keep an eye on your children without getting wet.

Pools open Withsun - Mid September.

There is a small children's playground for children up to the ages of 14 adjacent to the beer garden and barbeque area so that they can have their fun whilst you have yours.

There is a supermarket situated approximately 1.5 miles from the Holiday Village.

Telephones
There are public payphones on the Estate and in the Marconi Inn.

The Marconi Inn overlooks the swimming pool and has a nautical atmosphere reminiscent of the old Pilot Cutters. The bar itself is in the form of a boat and the décor captures the same maritime flavour. The Marconi Inn makes an excellent lunchtime rendez-vous and inthe evening caters forthose who prefer a restful evening with their friends. There are, however, periodic Quiz nights and disco-karaoke evenings from time to time.

Lunchtime meals and bar snacks are readily available on request. Although children are not allowed into the bar, there is a 'cabin annex' to the Marconi Inn which children can use provided they are accompanied by their parents.

A beer garden and barbeque area are also provided for those long hot summer nights and although you can use the barbeque for free, the Bar Manager's permission must be sought first to avoid any double booking.

Caravan Rallies
Caravan Rallies are proving ever popular and are permitted throughout the season if the Rally is affiliated with THE CARAVAN CLUB and carries an exemption certificate. The cost per van varies according to the size & lenth of rally

We regret pets are not allowed.

There are public telephones situated on the estate and in the Marconi Country Club.

About the local area.

Here in South Wales we are able to cater for all tastes.
To our north the world famous Welsh Valleys where coal was 'king' and where Burton and Jones learned their trades.We have castles by the score with even a Roman fortress for good measure.

If you enjoy golf we are graced with many fine courses, all within just a few miles

For the night owl and gourmet Cardiff city will not disappoint. There are Welsh, English and ethnic restaurants to satisfy the most discerning of tastes. Pubs and clubs abound as do cinemas, theatres and fine sports and leisure facilities.
