One of Loughborough's oldest guest houses this Victorian building still retaining many original features is conveniently situated within five minutes walk of the town centre and even closer to the Great Central Railway Steam Trust which is one of the County's leading attractions. We are also only a few minutes from the University, Taylors Bell Foundry, Prestwold Hall and Beaumanor Hall.
We have ten lovely decorated rooms most with original cast iron fireplaces all of which have en-suite or private facilities. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities and colour TV.
The beautiful Leicestershire countryside offers a variety of walks through local attractions such as Charnwood Forest, Beacon Hill and Bradgate Park, the birthplace of Lady Jane Grey (the nine day queen).
For motoring and racing enthusiasts a visit to Castle Donington Race Track and Museum is highly recommended.
The De Montfort is named after the Frenchman Simon De Montfort, who came to England in 1229, favoured by Henry III he was made Earl of Leicester. In later years as King Henry stayed further from the Magna Carta, Simon and the King waged war upon each other.
On the 4th August 1265 Simon De Montfort was killed in battle at Evesham in Worcestershire. Simon was loved by the common people of England. His cause triumphed and he is now known as the father of English Parliament.
