Coombe Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast, Fowey, Cornwall, PL23 1HW Telephone: 01726 833123
Coombe Farm, which was acquired by the National Trust in 1980, is still very much a working farm.

Tucked away above the valley of Coombe Hawne, there is a long standing history of little disputed myth and legend that the last recorded run of spirits ever made at Fowey took place at Coombe on the 9th August 1845 (with a cavity between two rooms reputed to have been used as a smugglers hole).
Coombe Farm is ideal for visiting the famous Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock House and Gardens - each within a 15 minutes drive. Or just relax and enjoy all the beautiful coastal walks around the farm and beaches, which are mentioned in Daphne du Maurier's novels. |
Your Ideal Location
Coombe Farm is a perfect holiday choice. It is centrally situated to tour any part of Cornwall within the day.
Its idyllic location enables you a choice of activities from secluded beaches, fishing and sailing (from the ancient port of Fowey), to the beautiful tree lined or coastal walks made famous by Daphne du Maurier.
For the more adventurous guests a moonlight walk through the historic Covington Woods, past St. Catherine's returning from one of Fowey's Multitude of character pubs or restaurants serving locally caught fish and home grown produce. | |
From the double rooms you can see the fishing boats returning to the ancient village port.
The guests who like to keep fit are ideally catered for with a morning dip around three hundred metres from your bed.
If you prefer a lazy day followed by a Cornish Cream Tea, Coombe offers it all within the farmhouse's walled gardens. |
How do you find Coombe?
Travelling via Plymouth on the A38, head for St Austell. 2 miles after going through Lostwithiel you turn left onto the B3269 sign-posted for Fowey. You remain on this road until you pass the Texaco garage and cross the mini roundabout (for Fowey). Take the next turning on your right (Prickly Post Lane). Continue on this road until you reach the National Trust car park, followed by the farmhouse at the end.
